yesterday, i was sitting in a coffee house with asunlitrose, who i was meeting in person for the first time, when poetryslam, who i'd never met in person before even though we are lj friends and live in the same city, walked in. we immediately recognized each other from userpics.

oh, the internet.

i just found out about the greatest thing in the world -- the national karaoke league. yes. you read that right -- karaoke league. and not the sort of american idol type competition that requires actual talent -- one for people like me, based on awesome silly performance. i just signed up for the downtown division. if you're in austin and you know what's good for you, you should join me.

when i logged into facebook when i got home from work, it logged me into the new account rather than my old/current account, so i was able to change the email address on that account and deactivate it, so hopefully my facebook issues have been sorted out.

this morning, about an hour ago, facebook restored my old account without any word about what had happened. weirdly, the new account i created still exists on facebook, but i can't access it. there were some people who i added to the new account who i actually didn't have friended on the old/current account for some reason -- i sent new friend requests to those people, so if you get another one, i apologize for that. so, basically, i'm still really confused, but everything seems to be back to normal on the facebook front.

i got this today in the center of my upper back. it's about three inches in diameter. it was done by karen slafter at resurrection tattoo -- she did an amazing job!! yay! it actually didn't hurt nearly as much as i thought it would, despite the redness in the photo.

i just went to login to facebook, and my account has been deleted. i didn't receive any email about it (no accusations of violations of unspecified provisions of the terms of service), it's not just "disabled" -- it's like i never had a facebook account. i was able to create a new account under my name using the same email address, but everything's gone. has this happened to anyone else? does anyone have any idea why this might have happened? xgray and i both sent them emails about it, but i'm not expecting them to do anything about it anytime soon.

monica started a fantasy football league on yahoo! and still needs a few more people to make it good. i'm playing (despite my woeful lack of football knowledge), so if you've always wanted to trash talk me, now's your chance. if you want to join, leave a comment here and i'll get you a league invitation.

a year ago today we had a wedding. lots of you were there. it was awesome.

ep3 took lots of awesome pictures, and criesbella gave us the best wedding ceremony ever.

in september, we'll be together six years. yay xgray! yay wedding! ;)

this weekend, xgray and i went to the san antonio riverwalk to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, which is tomorrow -- yay! we stayed in a fancy hotel and slept a lot and ate tasty food and did lots of people watching. whee! it was a lot of fun. i actually took a couple of photos (though i forgot my camera most of the time). you can view the rest of my photos here. note that xgray is on the other side of the camera for once -- *gasp*! note the person eating behind him.

there were huge storms in phoenix that caused my flight to be extremely delayed.

i'm posting from the airport in phoenix. i have a layover here from salt lake city and my flight to austin has been delayed. right now it's running an hour late -- hopefully it doesn't get delayed any more. thanks, tropical storm/depression edouard! i'm alrighty going to be getting into austin after midnight, and it would be nice if it wasn't too much later. this ticket was free, though (thanks, southwest rapid rewards!) so beggars can't be choosers i guess.

i had a good visit with monica in salt lake city. as usual, we ate lots of tasty deliciousness and did other fun stuff. we saw the dark knight, which was great (as the rest of you have already found out, i'm sure -- i'm a little behind the curve), went to a james taylor concert, saw some utah sights, and generally hung out. the lack of humidity and comparative lack of heat was also excellent.

tomorrow, i start my job full time. so basically, it's like the first day of the rest of my life. whee!

I'M DONE WITH THE BAR EXAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is it -- the bar exam starts today.

whee.

xgray and i saw lewis black last night at the austin music hall. i love that guy. he was even better live than he is on tv. i'm not sure how that works for a comedian, but he was. i guess it was because he was able to do some stuff that was more audience-specific, and also that he was able to get away with saying some things he probably couldn't say on tv. anyway, it was great. i was a little scared that xgray was going to crack a rib from laughing so hard, but thankfully, everything was okay. :)

the only weird thing was that our seats were fictional. seriously. we went to find our seats, and when we got to where they were, they weren't there. we were supposed to be in row 3, seats 12 and 13, and row 3 only went up to 10. we weren't the only ones there having that problem, either. they sat us all together in the same row, and those seats were pretty good, too, so it didn't end up being bad, just funny.

this weekend is the final cramfest before i travel on monday to be sequestered in my undisclosed bar exam location. i'm not big on cramming, so this weekend will be mostly about making sure everything i've already shoved in my head stays put. ;)

now to get to some criminal procedure.

this time next week, i'll be about five hours away from being done with the bar exam forever. in honor of that extremely wonderful thought, here are all of the good things about studying for the bar exam:

1. not having to leave the house. take that, high gas prices!
2. spending all day in my pajamas. considering that as a result of the bar exam, i'll be spending the vast majority of the rest of my life wearing suits, this is a lovely thing indeed.
3. not having to wake up until 8am on weekdays. i just get out of bed, take a shower, and start studying. no need to waste time making myself look attractive for the masses, and no need to waste time commuting.
4. i'm only accountable to myself for my schedule. thus, i can do things like write this lj entry, and not worry about how to account for this time.

.. and that's about it. but there's something! ;) now back to studying.

looks like we're entering the final bar exam countdown. the first day of the exam is a week from tomorrow, and by 5pm a week from thursday, it will be over! i'm feeling pretty good about the whole thing -- i've been working hard and the statistics are on my side. 90% of graduates from my law school pass the texas bar exam on their first try, 80% of people taking the texas bar exam pass overall, and i haven't been slacking (too much).

of course, this is all a little weird to me because this is really the first time my goal has been just to pass, so i have no idea where to set my mental goal. i'm used to studying to know everything. that's impossible with the amount of material on the bar exam and completely unnecessary (your score doesn't matter so long as you pass), but i still feel this automatic frustration when i don't get everything right. i'm coming to terms with the fact that i don't and can't know exactly where i need to be -- i can't predict or control this -- but if i do the things i'm supposed to do, there's no way i can fail.

now back to studying. uniform commercial code and business associations practice essays await me.

i am smart, this i know, because this piece of paper tells me so. ;)

i don't have much interesting to post about these days, unless you'd like to hear about secured transactions and commercial paper, the two things that have been occupying my day today. right after memorial day, i started my bar exam review classes, and the july 4th weekend marks my ascent into full on cram mode (i have one more class tomorrow, but other than that, all cramming all the time) until the bar exam itself on july 29 - july 31. so between that and work (doing that part-time now and starting full time on august 6 -- no three month bar trip for me! (which means no biglaw burnout later!!)), it looks like my updates will continue to be sparse. aren't you all sad? ;)

it's not all work here, though. i got to spend some much needed extra quality time with the xgray over 4th of july weekend (his photo show went well! it's actually still up at the rio rita -- they asked him and his show partners to keep everything up for an extra month because they liked it so much! woo hoo!) and also hung out with clarebert, ep3, thedacam, scott (does he have an lj?) and shemom. bad tv, movies, parlor games, and goodness!

also, i've still been spending entirely too much time (considering the amount of free time i actually have) watching various wwe programming. ahhh, pro wrestling. it's like macaroni and cheese or mashed potatoes. pure comfort food. don't worry, guys -- i'm not going to start writing massive posts about wrestling here, as much as i'm tempted to. ;) wwe seems to be sensing my appreciation, since after months of mediocre (kentucky fried chicken mashed potatoes quality -- conforting, yes, but not really excellent) content, they seem to be starting to go after my heart. heel turn for chris jericho? world title on cmpunk (ha! like we're friends or something)?! wwe loves me and wants me to be happy and pass the bar. i'll take signs from the universe wherever i can.

i'm planning a celebration for when the bar is over. i'm not sure where or precisely when, but i'm going to need a serious celebration when this is all over. i'll be so happy that i'll have to share it. i will be ecstatic. it will be awesome. yay for the end of limbo. yay for the rest of my life.

xgray, nathanblack, and davidjewell will be showing photos for the rest of this month at the rio rita (1308 e. 6th street).

there will be a party this friday, june 13 at 8pm (at rio rita, obviously) in honor of the show. you should all come.

not too much has been going on over here. i've been spending a lot of quality time at bar review class (i'll spare you the details), and some more quality time at work. my wisdom teeth are basically all healed up, but i'm still avoiding popcorn for the next week or two after mandopout's dire warnings re: popcorn and wisdom teeth. ;)

baritone_kid is in town for basically the entire month of june doing an away rotation so we've been hanging out a lot, too. i even got him to go to aikido with me! his boyfriend shreyas came to town to visit so i finally got to meet him. the wait was worth it, though, because he's great.

i still haven't gotten all of my grades in yet, but they let me graduate, so i guess they weren't too bad! ;)
